When Johan came back from a travel to an Indian ashram for a month, he brought a book with him about yoga for children since he knew it could give an effect on my teaching in school and on the relation to my daughter doing yoga together with her. During our meetings in my or his living place he started to teach yoga to me and in a very playful way to my daughter. He recommended us to do yoga nidra exercises together before I got my daughter to sleep. He also send us a CD containing yoga nidra we were listening to together before we went to sleep. I can say since I got in contact with yoga in this slowly, naturally developing way my life changed completely. The body awareness, being the effect of the regular exercises, made me feel much more in the direction what was right for me or what wrong. I always had a problem to set borders but since I started yoga I felt in a very natural way regarding my work and my private situation what I wanted to to do and when I felt saying no. I stopped crossing my personal lines without having a bad conscience because I knew that I did the right thing simply because it felt right. After some time of my practice I also noticed that I got in contact with before hidden sides in myself. Meaning for example creativity. Whenever I practiced in the evening I came into a natural flow in the night waking up with good ideas for projects for the work with my students in school. Regarding my daughter I can also watch very deep influence yoga has on her. By doing the yoga nidra regularly together with her she noticed the difference of being tensed during the day and relaxing in the evening. This relaxation effected her in the way that she could easily find to sleep after a yoga nidra. This also seemed to have a deep influence on her self confidence as well because whenever she talked about something scaring her in school or in her every day life regarding the relation to different friends I reminded her of different parts in the yoga nidra and then she calmed down much faster. I know for sure that in most cases before we started to practice yoga together she would totally freak out making a huge scenario. The last point I want to mention is that my health condition changed into a very good direction. I notice whenever I get tensions and with yoga I have some skills in my hands to do something about this. Added to this I noticed my muscles getting stronger and as consequence my body has a better posture than before. Another effect is that I really have the urge to prepare biological, healthy food for me and my daughter. We are eating a lot dishes including different vegetables of the season, drinking mineral water or herb tea in the amount you should drink during the day and eating less fatty and unhealthy stuff like for example candy. / Jessika Michalzik
